Museu Histórico de Ubatuba Será Reinaugurado

A Fundação de Arte e Cultura (FundArt) de Ubatuba tem o prazer de convidar os munícipes para a reabertura do Museu Histórico Washington de Oliveira (Cadeia Velha), localizado na Praça Nóbrega, 8 – Centro, que acontece nesta terça-feira, 11 de agosto, às 16:00.

O museu passou por um trabalho de reparos de infra-estrutura e também de reorganização do acervo. “Sua reabertura é importante pois resgata um pouco da história caiçara, de seu modo de vida e personagens”, destaca João Corbisier, presidente da Fundart.

A Cadeia Velha, considerada a primeira construção de linhas modernas de Ubatuba no século XX, foi projetada por Euclides da Cunha, autor da famosa obra “Os Sertões.” Na época, ele era funcionário do Governo do Estado de São Paulo. O prédio, que também foi a primeira cadeia de Ubatuba, hospedou desde presos a caminho da Colônia Correcional do Porto das Palmas, na Ilha dos Porcos (Presídio da Ilha Anchieta) até viajantes.

Em 2001, foi reconhecido como Patrimônio Histórico Municipal e passou a ser a sede do Museu Histórico de Ubatuba. O Museu conta com acervo composto por materiais arqueológicos dos primeiros habitantes do município, móveis e objetos pessoais de Madre Glória e do farmacêutico Washington de Oliveira (Seu Filhinho). Também faz parte do acervo a Exposição “Ubatuba: o redescobrir da história” projeto de pesquisa bibliográfica e documental da cidade.
